Game of a Healthier Life 

Participate in the Game of a Healthier Life from Monday, March 31st to Sunday, April 27th to improve your overall well-being by completing one goal per day for 4 weeks. Each week will have a different theme, with daily goals related to that theme. 

  • Week 1: Physical Activity and Nutrition 

  • Week 2: Stress Management and Time Management 

  • Week 3: Mindfulness, Body Image, and Healthy Relationships 

  • Week 4: Sleep 

How it works: 

  1. Review or print the Game of a Healthier Life game board, or accept the Outlook calendar invitations sent to your UIOWA email.  

  1. Each day, complete one task from the set of challenges that correspond to the week on your game board. You can track your progress on a printed game board or you can use the calendar invitation to track your progress.  

  1. Check out the ICON site to engage in discussions with other participants to reflect on your experiences with how the challenges are going.  

  1. At the end of the program, complete the evaluation (emailed to all who register for the program) to be entered into a drawing for prizes. 

  1. Watch for weekly emails with helpful tips and resources for completing the Fall into Wellness challenges! 

Weekly Challenges Include: 

Week 1: Physical Activity and Nutrition 

  • Spend 30 minutes moving you body in a way you enjoy 
  • Drink at least 64 ounces of water 
  • Spend 10 minutes stretching 

Week 2: Stress Management and Time Management 

  • Make time for a sit-down, distraction-free meal 
  • Plan a timeline for an assignment 
  • Spend 5-10 minutes trying out a new stress management technique, such as a body scan 

Week 3: Mindfulness, Body Image, and Healthy Relationships 

  • Unfollow a less positive social media page and/or replace with a more positive one 
  • Write down at least 2 positive statements about yourself 
  • Give someone a compliment that doesn't relate to their appearance 

Week 4: Sleep 

  • Eliminate naps or reduce them to less than 1 hour 
  • Do a 10-minute relaxation exercise prior to sleep 
  • Get up at the same time in the morning on at least 3 days
